Recovering a Green Pool: General Guidance
Published 2025-02-15
First, brush the entire pool — algae bonds to surfaces and shocking without brushing may waste chemicals.
Adjust pH to about 7.2, then shock with cal-hypo or liquid chlorine at a heavier dose per label directions. Run the pump continuously and clean the filter as pressure rises.
A quality algaecide can help after shocking. Persistent green often means the filter isn't up to the job — consider professional help.
